X, Reddit, and Zoom Down Globally Due to Zayo Network Outage - Cyber Kendra
Cyber Kendra is reporting on the story above. It caught our attention because it may affect readers checking their internet or a specific service on SpeedTestTools right now.
When multiple big apps fail at the exact same moment, it is easy to assume your home Wi-Fi has quit. In reality, many popular social networks and video calling services rely on shared backbone providers behind the scenes to move data around the world. When one of these hidden network giants experiences a disruption, everyday users suddenly find themselves locked out of meetings and daily feeds through no fault of their own.
If your favorite platforms stop responding, do a quick sanity check before you start unplugging your hardware. Try visiting an unrelated website or checking a local news page. If those load normally, your home internet is healthy and the breakdown is happening deeper in the network. Resetting your router will not fix an external infrastructure failure, so the best approach is to step away and give the engineers time to restore service.
Broad outages are frustrating, but confirming the problem is not in your home saves you time and needless troubleshooting.
- Run a quick speed test — get concrete numbers before assuming it's your ISP.
- Open the Down Detector board to see which major services are actually having issues right now.
- If numbers look off, walk through the Fix-My-Internet checklist — most issues clear in the first two steps.
